With humble beginnings dating back to 1970, the Broadwell Hospitality Group has left an indelible mark on Oswego, NY, transforming from a tavern into a beacon of hospitality excellence. Founded by George Broadwell Sr., the business has evolved into a comprehensive portfolio of hospitality ventures, including the Bayshore Event Facility, The Best Western Hotel and Lake Ontario Conference Center, The Clarion Hotel & Suites with GS Steamers Bar and Grill, and most recently, the Splash Indoor Water Park.
In 1992, George's sons, George Jr. and Shane, joined their father as partners and full-time owners, ushering in a new era of growth and innovation. Today, the Broadwell Hospitality Group stands as one of the largest employers in the community, with over 200 dedicated employees.

The journey of the Broadwell Hospitality Group has been marked by collaboration and support from the Onondaga Watertown Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Advisor Larry Perras played a pivotal role in assisting with the construction of the conference center in 2011, followed by advisor John Halleron's involvement in securing funding for the indoor water park project in 2015. Despite challenges posed by the pandemic, the Splash Indoor Water Park opened its doors in 2023, welcoming over 10,000 guests in less than a year.

Undeterred by adversity, the Broadwell Hospitality Group remains focused on rebuilding its conference center business and launching innovative marketing campaigns to showcase its array of hospitality offerings. With two hotels, restaurants, conference facilities, and wedding venues all conveniently located within downtown Oswego, the group has established itself as a one-stop destination for hospitality needs along the riverfront.
Beyond business success, the Broadwell Hospitality Group is deeply committed to giving back to the community. Their dedication to employee satisfaction and recognition has earned them accolades such as the CNY Fastest Growing Family Business Award and the Ring of Honor award for Guest Satisfaction.

As they reflect on their journey, the Broadwell Hospitality Group acknowledges the pivotal role of their hard-working staff, who are cherished as family. Their collective efforts have not only shaped the tourism industry in Oswego but also created a legacy of excellence and service that continues to inspire.
