 At the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), we’ve always been dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses in our region. Now, with a name that better reflects the breadth of our service area, we’re excited to announce that as of December 1, we’ll be known as the North Central Small Business Development Center!
Why the Change? Our new name represents the expansive 8-county region we serve, which includes Cayuga, Cortland, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Onondaga, Oswego, and Seneca counties. By adopting the name North Central SBDC, we aim to better connect with the communities and businesses we proudly assist. “The name change to the North Central Small Business Development Center is a more accurate representation of the territory we serve and will more easily identify with the regional population of people seeking our assistance,” said Robert Griffin, Regional Director of the North Central SBDC. We’re deeply grateful to Dr. Warren Hilton, President of Onondaga Community College, and our Regional Advisory Board for their unwavering support in making this transition possible. A Rich History of Supporting Small Businesses For 40 years, the North Central SBDC, hosted by Onondaga Community College in Syracuse and Jefferson Community College in Watertown, has been a trusted resource for entrepreneurs. We offer no-cost, confidential advisement services tailored to every stage of the business journey—from pre-venture planning to succession strategies. Over the years, we’ve supported more than 58,000 individuals, helped launch over 4,400 businesses, and contributed to over $700 million in small business investment.
