Quilts by Commission Owner Stephanie McCall
Stephanie McCall began her journey filling homes and businesses with custom, high-quality, quilts and art pieces, in 2006. An award-winning Master Quilter, Stephanie brought her creativity and skills to each residential or commercial installation.

She has her own dedicated studio, and she also teaches private lessons and project classes at her home studio in Auburn, NY and at Cayuga Community College.

Her business was developed and created so that she could be an active parent at home while nurturing her independent, customer centered, business. However, after being in business for over 10 years, Stephanie realized that the market and needs of her customers had changed.

Realizing that her business needed to change as well Stephanie pursued assistance from the Onondaga SBDC. She participated in, and was a winner of, the 2017 Cayuga Pitch Competition with the assistance of her SBDC Business Advisor, Keyona Kelly. Stephanie explains, “Keyona built confidence in me to strengthen the skills and energy I already had. Knowing there was someone to brainstorm with and that I was not alone was crucial. She pointed me towards profit making and business minded approaches to build, improve, and offer more services than ever before."

She has now expanded the range of classes she offers, offering long arm quilting services, and is a guest lecturer at various industry related events. She has become more involved in the community becoming an active member of Toastmasters Empire Statesmen Syracuse, NY since February 2017, the Plank Road Quilt Guild, and the Quilter's Consortium of New York State. Stephanie has also partnered with the Cayuga County Habitat for Humanity, where she presented two beautiful quilts to a partner family on August 12, 2018.

Her mission? Designing and creating custom heirloom quality quilts that keep the client’s vision and needs at the center of the commission process. She strives to make business personal, with a longevity of service to encourage care of the quilt after the sale. She also hopes to educate with vintage quilts from our past, encouraging new quilters, and giving her students the skills they need to move this craft forward into the future.
