From Service to Success: Dr. Logan Curtis DD & Upstate Oral Surgery

​Dr. Logan Curtis DDS is not just a skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeon; he's also a testament to the transformative power of entrepreneurship. After leaving full-time service in the Army in 2019, Dr. Curtis embarked on a new mission: to open his own practice in Watertown, NY. Thus, Upstate Oral Surgery and Dental Implants was born.

Starting a business from scratch is no small feat, especially for someone with extensive medical training but little to no business background. Recognizing the need for guidance, Dr. Curtis turned to the Onondaga Watertown Small Business Development Center (SBDC) for support. Their expertise proved invaluable in navigating the complexities of business documentation and securing crucial financing.

With the SBDC's assistance, Upstate Oral Surgery opened its doors in the summer of 2019. Fast forward nearly five years, and the practice has flourished beyond expectations. What began as a solo venture has now evolved into a thriving operation with multiple surgeons and a team of 15 dedicated employees.

The success of Upstate Oral Surgery is a testament not only to Dr. Curtis's surgical skills but also to his entrepreneurial spirit and the support of the SBDC. As Upstate Oral Surgery prepares to expand into a new office and welcomes additional surgeons into the fold, Dr. Curtis reflects on his journey with gratitude.
